Part 1: What Realtors Can Do In A Time Like This To Keep Momentum?

Providing an essential service and marketing as a Realtor to server your clients in this environment requires a whole new approach. We must also ensure we include empathy and sympathy for those we connect with. 

We must understand this is a time to serve. This is not a time for selling. This is a time for earning relationship-share and not market-share. While socially distant we should focus on creative closeness. 

1: Self-Care: I’ve been humbled by the number of people who I serve that have asked me to take care of myself as well. We need to be good to ourselves to be able to help others. I can’t encourage you enough to turn off the news, stop watching negative social media comments and instead focus on mindset, exercise, diet and sleep.

2: Network Connect: Stop putting it off for another week and pick up the phone to call everyone in your relationship list. Some of our Realtors have been meeting their goals of 5 people per day. This is entirely manageable and I’m sure the person on the other end would love to hear you say: “I was just thinking about you. I wanted to reach out and ask if you’re okay? I just want to let you know I’m here for you.

– What to say if you have existing clients wanting service: “I’m here for you. I have your back. What would you like to do?” If they want to pause, let them pause. Doing the right thing is the right thing. 

What to say if you’re working with a potential customer: Call, text, or send a personal video to EVERY ONE of them. Reach out with care: “I was just thinking about you. I wanted to reach out and say Are you OK? I just want to let you know I’m here for you.”

3: Client database community event: Once a week or bi-weekly invite your database to join you online using Google Hangouts or Zoom to connect. Connecting others you know with each other, sharing and asking for advice, offering help or ask questions about anything you can share to help them. A lot of people are afraid when they don’t feel informed, help them be informed about the market. (but don’t predict the future please)

4: Business Community Support: any of your clients of businesses that you frequent and ask “How you can help them? Are they ok?” Promote anything they are still doing in this time of need like what they offer, when they are open, delivery, pick up etc. What an incredible opportunity to support the local business owners and service providers in your community. Call them and ask for an online interview with them using software that allows you to record this and then share it to your database or Facebook Page.

5: Post Mail: Never before has mail been a more acceptable and welcome item. One of our Realtors is a painter and she’s painted a picture of a brave lion, had them made into postcards with words of encouragement for people’s refridgerators and her details on the back. This is the time for the letter: “I was just thinking about you. I wanted to reach out and say Are you OK? I just want to let you know I’m here for you.”

6: Your Skills: By now your brokerage should have offered you more training than is possible to be done in a day, every day. Now is an amazing time to sharpen those negotiation, marketing and communication skills. Improve on technology skills by just searching YouTube for whatever you want to improve on. 

7: Share your Gifts: Have you seen the number of world class musicians putting on free online concerts? If you have a gift or talent, now is the time to share it with everyone you know.
